Activities for Monday 23rd March 2020

Please don't feel like you must get all of these activities done. We aimed to give you a selection. There might be days that you don't do any of it as you have much more interesting things going on. The idea is that we keep our children's minds busy and sharp while riding out this strange period of time. laugh

English:

This week, we are going to write a story, step-by-step.

Today we are doing Step 1: Create a Character!

On a piece of paper, draw the character you want to write your story about. It could be a dog, superhero, girl/boy, ogre - anything really! Make the picture nice and clear. Add lots of detail and colour your character in.

What is your character wearing?

What is his/her hair like?

Does he/she have a special item (wand, skateboard, hat, etc)?

Keep your picture in a safe place for tomorrow. smiley

Maths

Place Value

Today we wold like you to think about Place Value. Thinking about how many tens and ones make up numbers.

Remember: 10 ones = 1 ten.

Here are a range of activities for you to complete (you don’t have to do them all J):

Activity 1: Make your own tens and ones using straws, tooth pics, pencils (or anything else you can think of which you can make into bundles of ten). Have a go at using them to make different 2-digit numbers (numbers between 10 and 99). If you don’t have anything suitable have a go at drawing out your tens and ones as pictures. Give your child a range of number to make. For example: can you make the number 28 using your tens and ones.

Activity 2:

Place value activity sheet. Have a go at guessing these numbers by writing them down on a piece of paper (don’t worry if you can’t print out the sheet, as long as you can see it you’ll be fine).

Geography:

In geography, we have been learning about our local area. Today's activity is to draw a map of the streets around your home. Label the key human (things humans have built) and physical features (things that are made from nature) of the environment.

Science:
