History of The Ark
'The Ark' is currently undergoing a total transformation. The ultimate aim is for the farm to become self sufficient with the children being able to grow, harvest and sell produce to the local community to make the farm a sustainable part of Peterhouse School.
Before pictures March 2022
The project started in the spring of 2015 when we became aware of similar projects which had a major impact on raising standards in their schools. Following a conversation with the then head (Martin Scott) we decided that the project would have a positive impact on our children.
October 2015 a working party erected all the fencing around our paddock.


Early Spring 2016 concrete slab and outside housing was built.


Late Spring 2016 bus arrived for conversion to outside classroom.


April 2016 Year 3 hatched some chickens in their classroom


May 2016 Following vandalism of our bus and school grounds the decision was taken to convert a brick building on the playground to a more secure stable.


June 2016 Pygmy goats arrived on site



July 2016 Two guinea pigs and two rabbits joined ‘The Ark’




January 2017 Raised beds built to start growing fruit and veg.
